Reno & Cavanaugh PLLC is pleased to announce that Cynthia Langelier Paine and George L. Weidenfeller have joined the firm's Washington, D.C., office focusing their practices on affordable housing and economic development. Previously, both were attorneys with Goulston & Storrs. Paine and Weidenfeller reunite with N. Linda Goldstein, who joined the firm in November from Goulston & Storrs.

"Linda, Cynthia, and George bring deep experience incorporating government housing and economic development incentives into private sector real estate projects," said Hannah Cassidy, managing member of Reno & Cavanaugh. "The addition of these attorneys further expands the capabilities of our specialized team of real estate lawyers and broadens the services we offer our clients."

Paine and Weidenfeller, along with Goldstein, represent clients with development and rehabilitation of multifamily affordable properties and larger-scale, mixed-income, mixed-use, multifamily/commercial projects. They also advise businesses involved in energy-related initiatives and those seeking to acquire HUD and Enterprise-owned single-family homes (REO).

"Reno & Cavanaugh has an outstanding reputation in the practice of housing and real estate law," said Goldstein, who has worked as a housing and economic development attorney representing clients throughout the country for more than 30 years. "The firm is known for its depth of expertise and the personal service and flexibility it provides to meet the changing needs of its clientele."

Paine brings to the firm experience in all aspects of real estate law, including acquisition, financing and debt restructuring, and has advised non-profit clients and for-profit developers regarding the preservation of affordable housing. She will continue to advise clients with respect to the low-income housing tax credit and new markets tax credit programs.

Weidenfeller has a long and distinguished history in government subsidized housing and economic development, having served for more than 15 years as Deputy General Counsel at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Since leaving HUD, Weidenfeller has provided HUD regulatory guidance relating to owners, developers, lenders, managers, and entities of local government.

Paine earned her B.S., cum laude, from Northeastern University and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Weidenfeller earned his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, M.P.A. from University of Southern California, Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center and S.M.G. from Harvard University, John F.
