HERNDON, Va. -- Canvas Solutions Inc. has raised $1.2 million of a $1.83 million share offering, from nine investors.
Principals named in the filing by the Herndon-based technology company are:
· CEO James Quigley;
· Director Mark Angelino from Hewlett Packard
· Director from Management Simple
Most recently, Quigley was V.P and Managing Director of the Enterprise Wireless Solutions Division at inCode Wireless then acquired by VeriSign. Prior to VeriSign, he held leadership roles within other wireless start-ups including Aether Systems, Orbcomm, and Peak Technologies (formerly a division of R.R. Donnelley). Quigley sits on the advisory board of LetsGiveBack.org and is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy (B.S. Marine Engineering) and a former U.S. Naval Officer
Founded in 2008, Canvas develops data collection apps for smartphones and other mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, barcode scanning devices and netbooks. Its software service allows the collected data to be analyzed and shared on Canvas' website. In May, students in Venezuela used Canvas' apps to promote democracy and political participation during the country's national elections.
Canvas also runs a mobile business app store.

Mark Angelino
Mr. Angelino is the SVP of Global Distribution for Hewlett Packard. He is responsible for the HP strategy and execution within Systems Integrators, Outsourcers, Advisory Firms and Network Service Providers. Prior to HP, Mark was an Executive Vice President at SalesForce.com where he was responsible for the adoption of Salesforce's sales, call center and platform services in North America. Prior to Salesforce.com, Mark was most notably President of Sales & Distribution for Sprint Nextel. While in this position he managed the company's varied distribution channels including direct sales, over 1400 retail and national retail locations and stores, indirect dealers, telesales and web sales in all managing over 20,000 points of distribution. Prior to that assignment, Mark was President of Sprint Business, a $16 billion wireless and wireline international carrier. While in this position, Mark also directed several Sprint Nextel business units including alliances, prepaid Boost Mobile, the international wireline activities and their wholesale businesses. Prior to participating in the merger between Sprint and Nextel, Mark held several key positions at Nextel including directing all of Nextel's Enterprise sales activities and Nextel's Distribution channels. Prior to Sprint/Nextel, Mark spent 22 years at IBM holding leadership positions in finance, marketing and sales management.
Mark has won the coveted American Business Award for Top Sales Executive and holds a BA in Liberal Arts from Colgate University and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
Matt Tabrizi
Founder and President of Management Simple, Matt is a seasoned professional with twenty years of experience in management. Matt started working as Fractional ManagerTM in 2005 before formalizing the concept into Management SimpleTM. During this period, he has served as COO of Autana Capital and Managing Director of AppSimple. Prior to these positions, Matt was responsible for the operations as well as the acting CIO for ePlus Technology (NASDAQ: plus, served as the President of Prosperity Financials, President of InfoAge, and VP of Operations of ICN.
