HERNDON, Va. -- KMC Software Inc. has raised $2 million, or two-thirds of a $3 million equity offering, from a single investor, according to an SEC filing.

Principals named in the Reg D filing by the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company are President Kevin Watson; Chief Technology Officer Marc Slack of Herndon, Va.; and executive officer and director Christopher Rickborn of Coral Gables, Fla. All three are co-founders of the privately held software company.

Rickborn also is a partner at Fort Lauderdale-based C/Max Capital Corp., which invests in emerging healthcare and technology companies.

Slack also is the founder of Morph Technologies, a joint venture company of Integran, a progressive technology company focused on high-performance nanocrystalline "Nanovate" metals with offices in Pittsburgh, Pa. Morph commercializes Integran's proprietary nanomaterial technology for automotive applications.

I hired the team of programmers, Database administrators, quality control staff, program managers, system administrators, etc. We build the software from scratch in java and deployed it in a redundant multi site configuration with hot fail-over and real time data replication. We maintained a 99.98% availability. Our primary customers were fortune 100 banks and telecommunications companies. We built the client base and in June 2007 Verid was purchased by EMC in June 2007. I stayed on with EMC until Dec 2007.
